Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî

Hz. Mevlânâ was born on 30 September 1207 in the city of Balkh of Horasan, where Turkish tribes lived (today, Balkh is within the boundaries of Afghanistan). His mother was Mümine Hatun, who was the daughter of Rükneddin, the emir of Balkh, and his father was Bahaeddin Veled, who was called as Sultan-i Ulema (the sultan of scholars). Their clash of opinion with Fahreddin-i Razi, one of the philosophers of the time, and the approaching invasion of Mongols caused the family of Bahaeddin Veled to leave Balkh together with their relatives. After staying for a time in Baghdad, Mecca, Medina, Damascus, Malatya, Erzincan and Karaman, this migration ended up on 3 May 1228 in Konya upon the invitation of Alaeddin Keykubad, the Seljuk Emperor.

About Hodjapasha

800 Years of Tradition

Hodja Pasha Hamam is a large double hamam, meaning it was originally built as a hamam accommodating both men and women in separate sections. It is known as Hodja Pasha Hamam because of the district and because Hodja Sinan Pasha was the Hodja Pasha of the hamam. There is still a mosque in the district called "Hodja Pasha".

Hodja Sinan Pasha was the son of Hüsrev Beg. He recieved a thorough education from his father and from important instructors of the time. Later in life, he became the tutor and vizier of Fatih Sultan Mehmet. Hodja Pasha Hamam was built with mostly stone and debris of brick.
